Good DVD Player – Until Audio Failed – Michael K. Terry –
Used this HD-A35 just over two years – suddenly the sound stopped working.
I firmly believe that two years is too short life for a player that costs the same as initially.
To his credit – that was an excellent upconverter for standard DVDs during its short life.

I bought this when the HD-DVD and Blu-ray is still neck and neck. I had a feeling of Blu-ray would win, but the price for HD-DVD is half that of Blu-ray at the moment.

The DVDs that I have to finish a game on my system, but it looks very good, because they are upconverted to 1080p. On a screen size (42 "LCD), image quality is not that far away from the Blu-Ray quality. Therefore, for its specific use, the HD-DVD gets five stars for its usefulness.
